The Medical Internship / Shadowing Programme
Litenorth provide Internship and Medical Shadowing for 1-4 weeks with doctors and leading clinicians in private medical hospitals and clinics in Leeds.
It is a real Internship and Shadowing program that students will intern with a real working Doctor and learn first hand how they treat and diagnose patients in clinics or hospitals. Students will learn about the duties, skills and gain knowledge needed in being a working Doctor.
This medical Internship is highly specialized and the experience can be tailored to the students needs and the needs of specialism required in their chosen medical field.
Places are highly limited and students will be served on a first come first served basis dependent on their suitability for this highly specialized Internship and Shadowing Medical Internship Program.
Requirements for Medical Internship / Shadowing
Pre Medical School Students 17+ wishing to apply to Medical School. Gain motivation, explore your chosen path, gain skills, gain experience, Certificate of Attendance & Doctor Report plus Reference to help with personal statement and UCAS application.
Already on MBBS 1yr-6yr MBBS or BSc – The internship experience of graduate medical students will be in-depth and challenging. Both involve a commitment of 9:30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 30 hours per week of internship hours.
Students must command a good level of English: minimum– IELTS 5-6, TOEFL iBT 35-59, TOEIC 526-750, Cambridge FCE. If you are unsure of your English level please contact us. All overseas students at International Schools or Universities whom have studied their courses in English are exempt and may apply for this course.
Students must be highly motivated and be thinking seriously of applying to Medical School for Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Psychology, Veterinary Science or already be in Medical School 1st – 5th year Medical Year Student already on an MBBS Course looking for a clinical Internship in Leeds, UK students and International students studying in the UK are especially welcome.
All nationalities with a good level of English. For all Non EU nationals our placement team will help students obtain the necessary Visa and UK entry clearance papers necessary to attend the internship. It is beneficial for all High School students (Y11 /Y12 / Y13) seeking to get a shadowing programme as well as for students on an MBBS Course or Foundation Year (junior doctors FY1, FY2) from abroad seeking an educational, clinical and cultural experience in the UK.
Experience available in London for some part of the Leeds Medical Internship if places are available.
What is included?
- Placement and support in a private medical hospital or clinic shadowing Doctors and Lead Clinicians Mon-Fri for 30hrs per week

Leeds The University City
The University of Leeds is a major teaching and research university in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire. Application Process
- The Medical Internships and Shadowing Programmes are extremely popular and oversubscribed – early application is advisable. Please apply up to two months before your chosen dates
- In the first instance please email: info@litenorth.co.uk We will arrange a video call with you to discuss the internship programme
- On application by email we need the number of weeks you wish to intern, the dates you are available, the first and second choice location; Leeds or London, if you require University accomodation and any other requirements you need.
- You will be required to pay a deposit of 15% of the total Medical Internship Fees or Full Fees upon Registration. Once your details are confirmed we will send you a secure Stripe Payment Link. AFTER YOU HAVE PAID FOR THE MEDICAL INTERNSHIP WE WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS :
- Updated CV, Photo (headshot) – for security card, Statement of purpose (cover letter) (max 500 words) – we will send you an example, Copy of Passport or Travel Document, Proof of admission or a letter of enrolment from your current School / University.
- Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Health & Safety Guidance from the Hospital we will require a Lateral Flow Test the test should not be more than 72 hours old. We can provide a test at registration on the first morning of the internship.
- We will keep you fully updated in writing at every stage of the application. We are available office hours to speak in person by video call.
